On occasion of the International Day of Peace, the representatives of the diplomatic corps, together with UNESCO, China World Peace Foundation, Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation and other non-governmental organizations held the Peace Festival at the Beijing Peace Garden Museum on September 21.
The videoconference event brought together more than 300 people, and dozens of experts from various regions of China.
Since the China World Peace Foundation is a licensing partner of the United Nations and UNESCO, the event was held under the auspices of these reputable international organizations.
Diplomats and politicians noted the importance of the large-scale event aimed at maintaining the atmosphere of peace and trust, consolidating partnerships for sustainable development. The meeting participants focused on the idea of the culture of peace and the use of the potential of the year of 2021, declared the International Year of Peace and Trust, to maintain international stability and security.
Ambassador Parahat Durdyev told about the events held in our country dedicated to multifaceted international cooperation, and informed about the thematic cycle, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan. Speaking during the videoconference meeting, the diplomat focused on the proactive role of our state in promoting international dialogue on the UN platform in the fields of sustainable transport, energy, and the environment.
As emphasized, Turkmenistan implements a foreign policy course based on the principles of positive neutrality, peacefulness, “open doors”, good neighborliness and equal mutually beneficial cooperation with all interested foreign partners, demonstrating the commitment to constructive dialogue in a multilateral format. The contribution of our country to the settlement of the situation in Afghanistan and its socio-economic revival was underlined.
The speech of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan was accompanied by video clips, which demonstrated the achievements of our country in various fields and successes in the implementation of the foreign policy strategy.
The heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations released into the sky the symbols of peace – white doves, and also sowed the symbolic seeds of Peace.
Within the framework of the festival, the results of the UNESCO Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads photo contest were summed up. The fashion show and modern achievements of design art concluded the festival.
