At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on September 3, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic, Banking and International Financial Organizations Serdar Berdimuhamedov reported on the progress of privatization of state-owned companies.
The Ministry of Finance and Economy, together with sectoral ministries, khyakimliks of velayats, carried out an analysis of state-owned enterprises and facilities subject to denationalization and privatization, the TDH state news agency reported .
The list of objects to be privatized through competitive bidding includes: five objects of the State Concern "Turkmengaz", three - the agency "Türkmenawtoulaglary" ("Turkmenavtotransport"), one - the State Concern "Turkmenhimiya" and one - the khyakimlik of the Lebap velayat.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that these measures are aimed at "a gradual transition to market relations, the introduction of effective methods of management, as well as denationalization of facilities," and instructed to analyze the feasibility of the state objects proposed for privatization.
At the last meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the head of state was informed about the transformation into open joint stock companies of the shops "Merw" and "Lebap", which are located respectively in the cities of Mary and Turkmenabat, and "Türkmendokma" ("Turkmentekstil"). However, it was not the president's son who did this, but the Deputy Prime Minister for Trade Chary Gylydzhov .
In the fall of 2020, banks began to transform into JSCs . In December 2020, it became known that 20 facilities of the Ministry of Trade were being modernized and also converted into open joint stock companies. In January, the President was informed about the transformation into JSC Derýaýollary (River Routes).
