On September 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan took part in two international online meetings on Afghanistan. Judging by the photos of the department, Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Khadzhiev took part in both .

On the eve of Radio Azatlyk, citing its sources, reported that Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov had contracted the coronavirus and was in a hospital in Akhal velayat.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Pakistan initiated a meeting of the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the PRC.

"The current meeting is viewed by Turkmenistan as an opportunity to develop a consolidated regional approach to ensuring peace and security in Afghanistan and the further comprehensive development of this country," Vepa Khadzhieva quoted the Foreign Ministry.

The second meeting was initiated by the foreign affairs agencies of the United States and Germany. It was attended by the heads of the foreign ministries of more than 20 countries of the world and representatives of the UN, EU and NATO.

At it, the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the participating countries exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan and the efforts of the international community to expand cooperation in the Afghan direction, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said.
