2021 has become one of the driest years for Turkmenistan. In the summer of that year, due to an extreme drought in Ashgabat, the water supply was regularly turned off , and water was transported around the city in water trucks. The drought also caused a crop failure in wheat in the countries of Central Asia. This, however, did not prevent the Turkmen authorities from announcing the implementation of plans for the collection of grain.
The President also approved the Resolution submitted by Yazmyradov “On the organization of sugar beet production in Turkmenistan in 2022”. According to the document, this year it is planned to sow 17,900 hectares of land and get 224,000 tons of sugar beets, including in the Balkan velayat - from 3,000 hectares - 24,000 tons, and in the Mary region - from 14,900 hectares - 200,000 tons. tons of harvest.
