On October 19, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the head of the Public Joint Stock Company (PJSC) Lukoil Vagit Alekperov .
According to the state information agency TDH , Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan is open for cooperation in the fuel and energy complex and is interested in modernizing the oil and gas industry, increasing the production and processing of hydrocarbon resources, attracting investment and diversifying export routes for Turkmen energy resources.
The parties also discussed the development of hydrocarbon resources in the Caspian region.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed in January of this year between the Governments of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan on joint exploration and development of the Dostluk field opens up new opportunities for cooperation, Berdimuhamedov said.
Alekperov also expressed his readiness to continue cooperation and spoke about the work of Lukoil in Turkmenistan, including the implementation of projects in the Caspian Sea.

• On January 21, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan signed in Ashgabat a Memorandum on joint exploration, development and development of hydrocarbon resources of the Dostluk field in the Caspian Sea.

• On July 27-28, Ashgabat hosted the third meeting of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani joint working group on the preparation of an interstate Agreement on the development and use of the field.
• On October 12, the President received the President of the International Group of Companies ARETI Igor Makarov , who submitted new proposals for the development of the Turkmen Caspian shelf for consideration by the Head of State.
