A briefing was held in Ashgabat, at which the preliminary results of voting on the presidential elections in Turkmenistan were announced. The meeting was attended by Turkmen and foreign journalists, as well as international observers.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan Gulmyrad Myradov informed those present about the work done on the preparation and holding of elections for the head of Turkmenistan. He especially thanked the media representatives who provided information support for the election campaign at all its stages.
The Chairman of the Central Election Commission noted that in general, 97.17 percent of voters took part in the voting, which indicates a high civil activity of the population.
“Currently, the counting of votes continues, taking into account the data from some polling stations at the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Turkmenistan abroad, which are received with a delay due to the difference in time zones. The final results of the voting will be summed up and made public in the near future,” Myradov said.
