On February 15, 2023, a meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov with the delegation led by the Minister of Cooperation, Labor and Welfare of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Soulat Mortazavi was held at the Foreign Policy Office of Turkmenistan. Within the framework of the meeting, they noted the high level of cooperation between the two countries, based on the extensive experience and the principles of equality, good neighborliness and mutual respect, which have continued to evolve in recent years.

The parties emphasized the importance of high-level meetings, in particular, effective and trust-based dialogues in developing bilateral friendly relations between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Iran.

During the talks, the ministers discussed the issues of expanding economic relations, first of all, cooperation in energy, transport and transit sectors. R. Meredov described the problems of increasing the volume of bilateral trade and economic relations for the rapprochement of regions.

Within the framework of the discussion on the development of trade and economic cooperation, the positive development of trade between the two countries was noted. In this regard, the parties emphasized the importance of encouraging the increase in the volume of mutual trade in order to consistently implement existing strong capacities.

Attention was also paid to the work of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
