On February 28, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a meeting between the head of the department, Rashid Meredov , and observers from the CIS who will work in the presidential elections in Turkmenistan, the foreign ministry reports .
The delegation was headed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary Leonid Anfimov .
The parties discussed preparations for the elections and the organization of the work of international observers.

On the same day, a meeting of observers with the CEC of Turkmenistan was held.
“For their [observers] work, all the necessary conditions have been created for monitoring the election campaign, including for meetings with proxies of candidates. The Headquarters of the Mission, equipped with the necessary office equipment and communications, has also been opened,” the state information agency TDH reports .
The duties of the Mission staff include: assistance in the accreditation of observers, resolving organizational issues, the distribution of observers by region and determining the order of their work on election day, preparing reports and analyzing them.
“The mission of observers from the CIS will carry out its activities on the basis of generally accepted international norms, independently, without interfering in the internal affairs of the state . The task of the Mission is to promote the holding of free and democratic elections,” Anfimova quotes the TDH.
At the previous presidential elections in Turkmenistan in 2017, the CIS observers did not reveal any serious violations that affected the final result and, as the state information agency TDH reported at the time, “stated with satisfaction that the presidential elections in Turkmenistan were held successfully, in an orderly manner, on a broad alternative basis, in conditions of openness and publicity and with a high activity of the electorate”.
In addition, on February 28, a two-day seminar on the conduct of elections began in Ashgabat with the support of the OSCE Center. The event was attended by representatives of various ministries and state bodies of Turkmenistan, as well as political parties and public associations.

A day earlier, on February 27, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held an online meeting with the country's diplomatic corps abroad on the topic of holding presidential elections.
It is reported that 41 polling stations have been formed in the embassies and consulates of Turkmenistan located in 30 countries of the world.

“This once again proves that an electoral system of a high level of democracy has been formed in Turkmenistan , and the rights of citizens are fully realized,” the Foreign Ministry writes.

On February 25, the diplomat spoke about the same at a meeting with Turkmen students and the rector of the Orenburg State Pedagogical University, according to the website of the Consulate General in Kazan.
“The Consulate General also turned to Russian universities with a request to jointly resolve the issues that Turkmen students have related to their stay on the territory of Russia ,” the information message says.
