The head of the Parliament controls preparations for Presidential elections in Turkmenistan

The Mejlis chairperson Akdja Nurberdyeva arrived in Dashoguz velayat on Monday, 16 January. The purpose of her visit was to inspect the readiness of the northern province to the Presidential elections which are scheduled to be held on 12 February.

On the first day she paid a visit to the khyakimlik's office where she met responsible officers in charge of organizing the forthcoming elections. She informed them how important the event is for Turkmenistan and mentioned that top level of elections should be ensured.

Later A. Nurberdyeva visited several polling stations located in Dashoguz and neighboring regional centres.

Prior to her visit, on Saturday and Sunday the local authorities represented by the agencies subordinate to them, carried out the cleaning campaign to clean the city and the suburbs, removed garbage and washed roads and pavements.

The Central Election Commission and its chairperson are responsible for organizing and conductions the elections. Yet, it appears that the Presidential elections, the third for the incumbent head of the state, are an extremely serious procedure to be entrusted to the Central Election Commission.
