The head of the upper chamber of the Parliament of Turkmenistan - Halk Maslakhaty (People's Council) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev, who arrived in Ashgabat on the eve of the International Day of Neutrality (celebrated on December 12).
During the talks, Kosachev noted that Russia values traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan, which demonstrates high economic growth rates, and attaches great importance to the further strengthening of long-term interstate cooperation.
The guest also congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the International Day of Neutrality, wishing him further success on the path of progress and prosperity.
In turn, the chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan confirmed Ashgabat's readiness to further develop humanitarian, social, cultural ties, establish women's and youth channels of communication with Russia.
During the talks, the parties expressed firm confidence in the further intensification of the Turkmen-Russian cooperation, built on the foundation of the centuries-old historical, spiritual and cultural community of the two fraternal peoples.
