According to the Xinhua News Agency, on January 6, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Xi Jinping noted that over the past 30 years, the Sino-Turkmen relations have developed rapidly. China is the first country to establish diplomatic relations with Turkmenistan, and one of the first to support Turkmenistan in pursuing a policy of permanent neutrality. The PRC became the first country that Turkmenistan named as a strategic partner in political documents, as well as Turkmenistan's largest partner in natural gas trading .
The day before, during a working trip of the Turkmen president to Lebap velayat and his meeting with the general director of the CNPC branch in Turkmenistan, Chen Huailong, it was announced that in 2021, about 34 billion cubic meters of natural gas were sent from Turkmenistan to China.
Earlier, the General Administration of Customs of the PRC disclosed data on the price of natural gas. In July 2021, Turkmenistan received $ 238 per thousand cubic meters from the PRC.
