The main drama theater of Turkmenistan named after the Great Saparmurat Turkmenbashi was given the legal status of "Academic". The corresponding resolution was signed by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a government meeting.
According to the resolution, this decision was made in order to further improve theatrical activities in Turkmenistan, increase the creative potential of theaters, as well as in accordance with the procedure and conditions for assigning the country's theaters the legal status of "National" or "Academic".
The Main Drama Theater of Turkmenistan named after the Great Saparmurat Turkmenbashi is the largest theater in the country, founded in 1929. Until 2005, it was called the Turkmen Academic Drama Theater named after Mollanepes.
