During a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament) of Kyrgyzstan on September 8, one of the deputies asked why the government did not announce the purchase prices for electricity imported from Turkmenistan, Kaktus media reported .
To this, Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry Taalaibek Ibraev replied that this is confidential information, since “other countries also buy energy from Turkmenistan”.
However, the official added that at the moment there is a preferential tariff, and the prices for energy are almost two times lower than for those produced in Kyrgyzstan.
“Preliminarily, the presidents agreed to supply 2 billion kWh. This tariff is valid only for this volume. Then there will be a commercial price, ”Ibraev said.
On August 11, the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Kyrgyzstan announced the start of purchases of Turkmen electricity.
According to the signed agreement, from August to December 2021, Turkmenistan will supply Kyrgyzstan with 501.9 million kWh of electricity. Until August 9, Turkmenistan exported 19.2 million kWh of electricity.
