The Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan has amended the Compulsory measures for the prevention of seasonal infectious diseases among the population, which were adopted in August 2020.
According to a document published on the website of the Ministry of Justice on June 13, masks must be worn:
at checkpoints across the State border of Turkmenistan;
in all types of public transport;
in enclosed public spaces.
The Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, the head of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service was entrusted with monitoring the implementation of anti-epidemic measures.
As a reminder, masks will no longer be worn outside as of June 1. Since the residents of the country were not massively informed about this, on June 11, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed Deputy Prime Minister for Science and Education, Health and Sports Sapardurdy Toylyev explain to the population through the media - newspapers and television - when and where it is necessary to wear a medical mask, and in where can it be removed.
According to correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, in the evening of the same day, police cars began to drive around Ashgabat and through loudspeakers to notify citizens that wearing masks was no longer required on the street.
