The national team of Turkmenistan will prepare for the 2024 Olympics in the Olympic village of Ashgabat and at Avaza

At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on January 14, Deputy Prime Minister for Science and Education, Health and Sports Sapardurdy Toylyev reported on the preparation of the Turkmenistan national team for the 2024 Summer Olympics, which will be held in Paris (France).

Training sessions and training camps will be held at the specialized facilities of the Olympic Village and the Avaza sports complex, "where advanced technologies have been introduced and the latest equipment that meets international standards has been installed."

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the need for the most serious preparation for the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games and signed the relevant Decree.

At the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo (due to the coronavirus pandemic, they were held in 2021), the Turkmenistan team won its first medal. Silver in weightlifting was won by 21-year-old Polina Guryeva. The athlete lifted the barbell weighing 96 kg in the snatch and 121 kg in the clean and jerk, gaining a total of 217 kg.
