Representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan participated in an OSCE-supported two-day regional seminar Combating financing of terrorism: best practices within the OSCE region, which was held in Ashgabat on 17-18 September 2018.
National experts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan presented their countries’ experiences in combating the financing of terrorism and the funding of foreign terrorist fighters (FTFs). The participants also discussed further strengthening of international and interagency co-operation between relevant state authorities, the OSCE office in Ashgabat reports.
The seminar also addressed analytical methods to detect suspicious transactions and funding sources in the area of the financing of FTFs.
The last OSCE seminar devoted to terrorism funding was organized on 25 April 2018 for representatives of the State Service of Turkmenistan on Countering Economic Crimes, the Ministry of Finance and the Interior Ministry. On 4 April, 2018 a seminar Countering Violent Extremism and Radicalization that Lead to Terrorism was organized by the OSCE for the Turkmen officials.
