The parties discussed issues of cooperation in the energy sphere with the Qatar company Faysal

In key areas of the Turkmen-Qatari cooperation, named the fuel and energy sector and transport and communications. This was announced at the meeting of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with a member of the family of the sheikhs of Qatar, the head of the company "Faysal" Sheikh Faisal Bin Nasser al-Thani, who became one of the honored guests of Turkmenistan in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the state independence of our country.

During the meeting with head of state Sheikh stressed that his country attached great importance to strengthening our traditionally friendly dialogue with Turkmenistan. The interlocutors also noted that the impetus for the development of relations was provided by the agreements reached at summit level during the official visits of the President of Turkmenistan to Qatar in October 2010 and the Emir of Qatar to Turkmenistan in March 2016.

The Head of state and his guest said there was substantial potential for enhancing bilateral trade and economic partnership. This marked a significant role of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Qatari Commission.

As previously reported, in April 2016, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited the representatives of business circles of Qatar to participate in the implementation of the gas pipeline project Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) with a capacity of 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
