At the Cabinet session held on 12 October, President Gurbanguly Berdymukahmmedov acknowledged that the programs adopted in Turkmenistan as well as the measures designed to create new jobs are not being fully implemented.
The state information agency TDH reports that the President charged Chairperson of the Supreme Control Chamber Gadyrgeldi Mushshikovwith the task of remedying the situation and warned that these issues will be reviewed again in a separate meeting until the end of the year.
Turkmenistan is experiencing a severe crisis. The government has no funds to support manufacturing enterprises and the privatization of businesses results in downsizing and mass termination of employees. The unemployment level in Turkmenistan has reached 60% and residents are trying to go overseas in search of job opportunities.
