At an extended meeting of the Cabinet on July 8, the topic of food supply to the population was touched upon, the state information agency TDH reports. reports .
Deputy Prime Minister for Trade Batyr Atdaev said that the growth in agricultural and food production for six months of the year reached 167.9%. However, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed to intensify work to increase the output of consumer products, especially agricultural ones.
The head of state ordered the vice-premier to study daily the state of affairs in food supply. “Taking into account the situation in the global economy, it is necessary to improve the provision of the domestic market with food and other essential goods,” TDH notes.
The official was instructed to provide the necessary assistance to the enterprises of the UIET, small, medium and large businesses, as well as to expand the export of food and textile products produced in Turkmenistan.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov recalled the “significant funds” invested by the state in the textile industry and ordered to increase the productivity and profitability of its enterprises, increase the volume of sales of carpet products and profits by finding new markets and ways to sell them.
Recall that in early June, to ensure food security, the head of state ordered to allocate $150 million to support entrepreneurs and the same amount to the Ministry of Trade for the purchase of necessary food products.
