The President is discontent with Turkmen media outlet for not reporting accomplishments in wheat supply to residents

At the Cabinet session held on 12 October President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov once again criticized domestic media outlets. The head of the state is discontent that the infrastructure and opportunities of the national satellite are not being fully utilized.

The President again called on media representatives to cover Turkmenistan's achievements and success stories in economy, grainsupply and accomplishments in the fuel and energy and transportationareas.

Let us recall that in early October President Berdymukhammedov was presented with an award by the Asian-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) for the development of mass media in the region.

Throughout the past year President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammemdovhas repeatedly stated that Turkmenistan's media outlets do not fully cover the accomplishments of the country.

At the Cabinet session held on 4 May Deputy Prime Minister overseeing culture and mass media Bakhargul Abdyeva briefed the head of the state that mass media outlets carried out the activities to showcase the accomplishments of the country and explain the nature and goals of large-scale reforms. However, on 31 May the President again criticized the performance of domestic television channels.

On 26 January the President said that the Institute of Journalism is scheduled to be established in Turkmenistan to cover the progressive reforms implemented in the country.

Professional development trainings are conducted for Turkmen journalists, including by the OSCE office in Ashgabat.
