President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Shentop, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit at the head of the parliamentary delegation of his country.
During the meeting, it was noted that Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey are actively developing cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. It was also emphasized that Turkey is one of the major trade and economic partners of Turkmenistan.
According to the parties, inter-parliamentary relations are an important component of the Turkmen-Turkish cooperation. Here, great importance is attached to intensifying contacts between legislative bodies, holding meetings and consultations, which contributes to the formation of a modern legal framework for partnership.
Also, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Shentop held talks with the leaders of the lower and upper houses of the Parliament of Turkmenistan – the head of the Mejlis Gulshat Mammedova and the speaker of the Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Following the talks, Mustafa Shentop and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.”
Also, by the decree of the President of Turkmenistan, the head of the Turkish parliament was awarded the order “For great love for independent Turkmenistan.”
