President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit at the head of the parliamentary delegation of the Russian Federation.
During the talks, the parties noted that Turkmen-Russian relations, built on the principles of equality and mutual respect, are traditionally friendly and strategic. The effective nature of interaction in the trade and economic sphere, energy, industry and transport was also emphasized. According to the parties, the multifaceted bilateral partnership is successfully complemented by direct ties between Turkmenistan and the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
During the talks, it was noted that contacts in the humanitarian field, through education, science, healthcare and culture, are an integral part of the Turkmen-Russian relations.
A separate topic of the conversation was inter-parliamentary cooperation, considered as another important tool for strengthening mutual understanding between the two states and their peoples. At the same time, the need was emphasized to develop this area in order to provide legislative support for the agreements reached and decisions taken at the highest level.
