The President of Turkmenistan met with the head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Natalya Gherman, who is completing her work as the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia and Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.

The meeting noted the successful work of the center to promote the principles of preventive diplomacy and create new formats for interaction between the countries of the region. Expressing gratitude to Natalya Gherman for her personal contribution to the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN, the head of state congratulated her on her appointment as Executive Director of the Executive Directorate of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee.

“Preventive diplomacy remains a very relevant and in-demand tool to assist states in identifying and eliminating potential threats to peace and security,” the head of Turkmenistan noted.

He expressed confidence that the potential of the center will continue to be in demand in such areas as counteracting modern challenges and threats, ensuring security, stability and sustainable development in the Central Asian region and adjacent areas.
