President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received credentials from the new head of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) office in Turkmenistan, Mohammad Fayazi.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the priority areas of bilateral cooperation and the prospects for its expansion. The head of the UNICEF office noted that Turkmenistan pays special attention to the development of health care, and especially to the protection of the health of mothers and children.
In turn, the head of state expressed gratitude to UNICEF for support in the field of maternal and child health and in the conduct of childhood immunization, in terms of coverage of which Turkmenistan is the leader in the Central Asian region. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also stressed that following the high spiritual principles of the Turkmen people, Turkmenistan pays great attention to supporting children with disabilities, which implies a complex of economic, social and medical support measures.
Expressing gratitude to the head of state for the constant attention to the issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNICEF, Mohammad Fayyazi assured the president that he would make every effort to successfully continue the long-term partnership.
