The President of Turkmenistan received the Special Representative of the Government of the People’s Republic of China for Eurasian Affairs

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held talks with Special Representative of the Chinese Government for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.

The parties emphasized that the Turkmen-Chinese cooperation is successfully developing both in bilateral and multilateral formats, including within the framework of the Central Asia-China dialogue. In this regard, it was emphasized that Ashgabat and Beijing are actively cooperating in the international arena, supporting each other within the framework of the UN and other international organizations in promoting important initiatives and proposals.

Speaking about the prospects for expanding trade and economic ties, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that China is currently a major trade and economic partner of Turkmenistan. Among the priority areas of partnership, the parties named the fuel and energy complex, transport, communications, investments, the chemical and textile industries, as well as the area of high technologies.

During the meeting, the Turkmen leader expressed condolences to the Chinese side in connection with the recent earthquake in Sichuan province, which caused numerous casualties and destruction.
