The President of Turkmenistan receives the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan Gulam Abbas Arbab-Khales who presented his credentials to the Head of the State.

Having expressed gratitude for spared time for the meeting, the diplomat conveyed the greetings of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran who has also addressed wishes of prosperity to the Head of the State and Turkmen nation. It was highlighted that Iran pays great attention to traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan, which has gained high international authority with its peace-loving policy.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has conveyed return warm greetings to the Government of friendly Iran, which the people of which Turkmen nation is connected by similarity of historical and cultural traditions, which go deep into millenniums. The Leader of the Nation congratulated the Ambassador on appointment to responsible diplomatic post and wished him success in work.

During the conversation, the Head of the State and authorised representative of friendly country have discussed priority subjects of bilateral relations, which are connected with neighbouring ties. Special attention has been paid to collaboration under competent international organizations, especially under the UN.

In this context, the importance of remarkable date the 25th anniversary of recognition of the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan on international level, which is celebrated this year, as well as constructive initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which are aimed at strengthening of peace in the region, making of conditions for common sustainable development, prosperity and progress, has been highlighted.

Based on the principles of positive neutrality, foreign course of our country meets national interests, long-term goals of the world community, criteria of balanced approach to provision of stability and security on the planet, which is based on everlasting human values, assertion of the principles of the UN Chapter as a base of international relations, the Head of Turkmenistan said.

Having outlined development of humanitarian relations as one of the main components of interstate dialog, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his guest spoke for activation of traditional cooperation in humanitarian sphere, which is supported by participation in international exhibition and scientific conferences held in our country as well as regular Days of Culture in both countries.

In the end of the meeting, Turkmen leader and diplomat expressed confidence in steadfast development of friendship and fraternity between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
