President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in a solemn ceremony of laying the administrative center of the Ahal velayat on the territory of the Geoktepe etrap. At the event, it was emphasized that "when building a complex of facilities, there is no need to vacate the land, as well as the capital demolition of buildings."
According to the state news agency TDH , banners depicting future new buildings, as well as yurts, where wedding ceremonies took place, national games, and 40 girls weaved a giant carpet, were installed at the site of the celebrations.
In his welcoming speech, the president noted that only large-scale government with a strong economic base and great growth prospects can carry out such ambitious plans.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that the city being laid today is designed for more than 70 thousand inhabitants. In two stages, it is planned to build over 400 cottages and multi-storey houses. In the new administrative center of the velayat, 10 kindergartens and 19 secondary schools, as well as primary and secondary special schools, two art schools and the Center for Mother and Child Health will be built. The Rukhiyet Palace, the House of Culture, the Drama Theater, the library, the circus and the museum, two modern sports complexes, a park, shopping centers and the International High School of Horse Breeding with a hippodrome will be built, the newspaper reports.
Earlier it was reported that the first stage of construction should be implemented in 2019-2021, the second - in 2020-2022.
After the solemn speech, the president signed a message to descendants, a capsule with which he left at the base of the foundation of one of the objects of the future city. Then the head of state launched the construction, leaving the first concrete shovels.
After the laying ceremony, Berdymukhamedov went to the Geoktepe mosque, where a moleben was performed and a sadaq was held.
Recall that in November 2018, a week before the official announcement that a new capital of the region will be built in the Ahal velayat, residents of the village of Gordzhav unofficially warnedthat a new administrative center could be built on the site of their village. People, fearing that their houses would be demolished, began to collect documents confirming their right to own a house and courtyard buildings, so as not to be left without shelter.
As practice shows, the construction of large infrastructure leads to the demolition of old residential buildings. Now demolished buildings near the territory of the old airport, where a new hotel is being built.
Demolished houses during the construction of the Olympic town for the Asian Games 2017. According to a joint HRW and TIHR report , on the eve of the Games homeowners were evicted, leaving without compensation and denying the possibility of judicial appeal.
