According to the publication, early in the morning the head of state arrived at the construction site of new buildings near the National Institute of Sports and Tourism, where he was met by members of the government, the Ashgabat khyakim and the rector of the sports university.
Dayan Gulgeldiev, Minister of Sports and Youth Policy, presented the General Plan to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, according to which the Olympic Sports Faculty of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism, a dormitory with 450 places, a sports complex, recreation areas, a car park, a cycle track, jogging tracks and a swimming pool will be built. The building of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy will also be erected. Recall that the faculty began to build in May on the site of the Turkish shopping center "Yimpash".
According to the newspaper, the president commissioned a special room to be arranged on the first floor of the ministry building, where one can familiarize oneself with the successes and achievements of the national sport during the years of independence of Turkmenistan.
So far, it has been noted that the results achieved by Turkmen athletes in international competitions do not meet expectations. For Turkmen weightlifters were not able to distinguish themselves particularly at the World Weightlifting Championships in Ashgabat. In this connection, Berdymukhamedov expressed his resentment to the university's work and demanded to reconsider the approaches and methods in the learning process, writes TDH.
The President noted that all conditions have been created in the country to train worldclass athletes, improve their skills, and encourage talented young people to achieve great victories, but they are not fully used.
Referring to Deputy Prime Minister Purli Agamyradov , the president instructed "to strengthen the demands on work in all structures of the sports sphere, to take measures to increase its impact, and with the erection of a new building to organize the proper training of qualified sports personnel, coaches and athletes."
The President also ordered the reorganization of universities at the Institute of Culture to create a department where they will study tourism, and to unite all the education areas related to the horsebreeding industry in the new university .
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov touched on the topic of doping, noting that the antidoping system should comply with international standards. In addition, attention should be paid to the organization of nutrition for athletes on which their achievements depend.
Afterwards, the President went to the Olympic Village, where, together with his colleagues, he practiced various sports, conducted strength training and played bowling.
Note that the Turkmen athletes have repeatedly come across the use of doping . On April 7, 2017, the National AntiDoping Agency was established in the country . In November 2018, it became known that the Turkmen Weightlifting Federation was threatened by WADA sanctions for working with an athlete disqualified for doping.
On November 12, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed dissatisfaction with the results of Turkmen weightlifters at the World Championships, which ended in Ashgabat on November 10.
Following the championship, Turkmenistan ranked 16th. Only one athlete from Turkmenistan 21yearold Yulduz Jumabayeva (pictured below) won three medals in the weight category up to 45 kg two silver and one bronze.
