The Presidents of Turkmenistan and Iran discussed by phone the development of bilateral partnership

Key issues of the development of bilateral partnership were discussed by telephone by the presidents of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Ebrahim Raisi. The Iranian leader congratulated his Turkmen counterpart on the International Day of Neutrality and the 26th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality and reaffirmed his country's commitment to expanding relations with Ashgabat.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in the fuel and energy, transport and communication complexes, light industry, agriculture and processing industries. In this regard, the role of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian commission and the urgency of more effective use of the potential of this structure were noted.

The heads of the two friendly states also touched upon a number of topical issues of international politics of mutual interest. Noting the coincidence or similarity of positions on topical issues of our time, the interlocutors stressed that the consolidation of efforts to ensure peace and sustainable development meets common goals and national interests. The parties also reaffirmed the commitment of the parties to constructive interaction within the framework of international organizations, primarily the UN.

Speaking about the importance of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, the interlocutors also noted the existence of a significant potential for cooperation in the fields of science, education, culture, art and sports.
