The Taliban spoke about plans to ensure the security of TAPI and about an imminent visit to Turkmenistan to discuss gas prices

On August 25, online negotiations were held between representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the official name of Afghanistan after the Taliban came to power, recognized as terrorist in many countries) with Muhammetmyrat Amanov , CEO of TAPI Pipeline Company Ltd , Bakhtar reports .

Amanov was interested in the issues of ensuring the safety of the pipeline. No other details of the meeting were given.

On August 20, TOLO news reported that a committee had been formed in the Afghan government to begin practical work on TAPI. The new structure was headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar .

According to the Afghan Foreign Ministry, an Afghan delegation will soon visit Turkmenistan to discuss gas prices and the implementation of the gas pipeline project.

“We intend to visit Turkmenistan and discuss gas prices, the implementation of projects in Herat (a gas pipeline will be laid through this province - note HT), as well as industrial parks,” said Shafay Azam , a spokesman for the Afghan Foreign Ministry .

Recall that the Taliban government presented the TAPI security plan to the Turkmen side in February 2022. Details of the gas pipeline protection plan were not disclosed.
