The Ministry of Industry and Construction Production of Turkmenistan announced the extension for 10 working days of an open international tender for the construction of a plant for the production of calcite with a capacity of 50,000 tons per year in the Koytendag etrap of the Lebap velayat.
The announcement was placed in the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" dated February 14. The tender was announced on December 29 last year.
Back in January 2019, the responsible Deputy Prime Minister reported to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov about his intention to launch the production of the mineral calcite, the production of which "will allow Turkmen builders to completely abandon imported analogues and, on its basis, produce various types of domestic paints, drywall and other non-metallic building materials."
Then, a proposal was submitted for consideration by the head of state on the establishment of a production of calcareous spar (calcite) with an annual capacity of 500 tons on the basis of a building materials enterprise located in the city of Magdanly, Lebap velayat.
Since 2018, the president has regularly given instructions to provide construction companies with materials of their own production. The last time it was heard at a Cabinet meeting on February 11, when the head of state ordered "to intensify the construction of the second stage of cement plants, as well as to form a powerful industry for the production of building materials, including cement, iron products, inert and finishing materials."
