Key issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed during the meeting by Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Vepa Khadzhiev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Turkmenistan Qian Naiche.

Concerning international issues, the diplomats stated the coincidence or similarity of the positions of Turkmenistan and China on the most pressing issues on the global agenda, and also noted the active joint activities on the regional track. It was recognized that the key to such successful work is the strict adherence by both countries to the norms and principles of the UN Charter and, above all, respect for the principles of respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity of states, and their non-interference in each other's internal affairs.

The parties noted that the Turkmen side for many years has repeatedly declared its support for the "one China" policy, which was recorded in all fundamental Turkmen-Chinese official documents. The representative of Turkmenistan stressed that Ashgabat is committed to the "one China" policy, supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the PRC on the basis of international law.
