The UN General Assembly published the declaration of the sports congress in Avaza as an official document

The 71st General Assembly of the United Nations has published the Final Declaration of the International Sports Congress "Asian Games 2017: International Sport Cooperation for Peace and Development" as an official document in the six official languages of the community. The Congress was held on April 7 this year in the National Tourist Zone "Avaza".

This was another evidence of the recognition at the international level of the large-scale activities carried out by the President of Turkmenistan and the constructive initiatives put forward by him.

As stated in the final declaration, the participants of the Congress declare that sport is an important factor of sustainable development and recognize the growing contribution of sport to the cause of peace and development, since the international partnership in the field of sport promotes the establishment of principles of mutual trust and respect between peoples and states, creates the most favorable conditions for the development of the human personality.

The Declaration calls on the countries of the world to make effective use of all the opportunities offered by sport and its values in the implementation of the Agenda for Sustainable Development for the period until 2030.

The document appreciated Turkmenistan's significant contribution to international efforts to promote peace and development through sport and the Olympic ideal. The states of Asia and Oceania are encouraged to actively participate in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in Ashgabat in September 2017.

The declaration also supports the proposal of the Government of Turkmenistan to host the 7th International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
