On February 14, a telephone conversation took place between the acting president of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov , and the president of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev , the state information agency TDH reports .
During the conversation, Berdimuhamedov expressed interest in developing cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, in which Turkmenistan has a “strong resource base,” and also thanked Tokayev “for the attention paid to strengthening Turkmen-Kazakh relations,” TDH notes.
The press service of the head of Kazakhstan writes that "the presidents noted the growth in mutual trade, as well as the intensification of cooperation in the fields of energy, transport, industry and agriculture."
In addition, "Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev expressed support for Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's decision to hold early presidential elections."
The day before, a Kazakh delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar visited Turkmenistan , who held talks with the president and his son, Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov .
