The sixteenth meeting of the joint Turkmen-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation was held in Tashkent. During the meeting, the parties noted the effectiveness of the Turkmen-Uzbek negotiations at the highest level and their impact on the further development of bilateral relations in various sectors. In this regard, the parties discussed issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation, industrial cooperation, as well as strengthening interaction in the field of energy, transport and transit.
Particular attention was paid to partnerships in the field of agriculture, in particular, the use of the region's water resources. They also discussed issues in the field of environmental protection, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Following the meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission, a corresponding protocol was signed.
In addition, the first meeting of the joint Turkmen-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on water issues was held in the Uzbek capital. The parties discussed issues of interaction in the use of water resources of the Amu Darya River, as well as the operation of water facilities on the territory of the two countries. In this regard, the urgency of the work of the International Fund for the Coordination Water Commission and the Interstate Commission for Sustainable Development in solving water problems in the region was noted.
During the talks, issues of scientific and technical cooperation in the field of water management were also considered . The meeting participants expressed their readiness to implement projects and programs of bilateral cooperation in the field of rational use of water resources and the introduction of new technologies in this area.
