Tourism Development Fund spends 42.5 million soms on exhibitions

Deputies discussed a criminal case initiated on the fact of corruption in the Tourism Development Support Fund at a meeting of the Parliament on Thursday.

Deputy Emil Zhamgyrchiev asked how much the fund had spent on exhibitions.

Its head Elena Kalashnikova replied that 42,582,140 soms were spent on these purposes.

«This money was spent on exhibition materials, creation of advertising, 30 videos, PR on social media, an inventory of state facilities at Bosogo tourist center and production of information signs. Travelling expenses usually make up 10 percent of the total. The main part of the money is spent on handouts, rent of space, construction of the stand,» she said.

The deputy asked how much the state earned.

The head of the Fund could not give a clear answer. She suggested that there would be a 40 percent increase in the number of tourists at the end of the year.

Office of the Tourism Development Support Fund and the house of the head of the organization were searched. The State Committee for National Security opened a criminal case on the fact of corruption in the implementation of the project for the construction of recreation centers for tourists.
