Tourists from Russia, India, and Turkey Top Azerbaijan’s Spending List

Baku: In January of this year, the number of foreigners and non-citizens who visited Azerbaijan was 172,614 people, APA-Economics reports citing the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Of these visitors, 65.6% (113,216 people) traveled for tourism purposes, while 34.4% (59,358 people) arrived for other reasons.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, tourists visiting Azerbaijan for tourism purposes in January spent a total of AZN 205 million 613.4 thousand. The citizens who spent the most during this period hailed from Russia, India, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Kuwait.

Specifically, Russian tourists led the spending with 48.2 million manats, followed by Indian tourists who spent 34.4 million manats, and Turkish tourists with expenditures amounting to 23.3 million manats. Saudi Arabian visitors spent 12.1 million manats, while those from the UAE spent 11.4 million manats. Pakistani tourists spent 9 million manats, and Kuwaiti tourists contributed 7.8 million manats to the total spending.
