On December 25, on the territory of Geoktepe etrap (Akhal velayat), drugs and contraband tobacco products seized during special operations were burned, according to the state information agency TDH .

The event was attended by the leaders of the Mejlis and Khalk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh, members of the Security Council, representatives of public organizations, the health sector, the media and venerable elders.

As the newspaper writes, this action is "a clear demonstration of the fact that Turkmenistan is fulfilling its international obligations in the field of combating drug trafficking."

The number of destroyed drugs has not been specified.

In December 2020, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov opened a new drug-burning complex located 100 kilometers north of Ashgabat, where more than 122.5 kg of drugs were destroyed.

In December 2019, drugs were burned in the Bagabat Ak village of the Bugday etrap of the Ahal velayat.
