Turkey hands over the list of Turkmen nationals who tried to hold a protest in Istanbul to the Turkmen authorities

Sources of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that the list with the names of 72 people who tried to hold a protest in Istanbul on 19 July, 2020 was handed over to the Turkmen side.

The demonstration was scheduled to be held in front of Turkmenistan’s Consulate, but Turkish police officers who had been informed about the upcoming protest detained almost everyone who appeared at the venue. The detainees were kept in the police station  Bakirkoy, after which the list with their personal details was compiled and the people were released.

At the police station the protesters were promised that the police will not hand over their personal details to Turkmenistan. However, a few days later they were forwarded to the Turkmen special services.

One of the female protesters, Dursoltan Taganova, is still in the deportation centre.
