Turkmen activists want to draw attention to COVID-19 in Turkmenistan with new protests

On September 28, a rally of Turkmen activists took place in New York. Several more protests will take place in the coming days, Turkmen news reports .

On September 28, the action took place at the UN building in New York. Two actions are scheduled for September 29 at once: in Manhattan, and also in Geneva near the WHO building.

On September 30, rallies will be held at the embassies of Turkmenistan and Turkey in Washington, as well as at the Washington office of the WHO. The activists chose this location because they want to draw the attention of international experts to the concealment of the COVID-19 epidemic in Turkmenistan.

The Geneva rallies are coordinated by Murad Kurbanov , who has been barred from entering Turkey. The activists are also concerned about the fate of Dursoltan Taganova and other Turkmen citizens recently detained in Turkey.

As previously reported, on September 27, Turkmen activist Dursoltan Taganova was placed in the Selim Pasha deportation facility in Istanbul. Another 25 dissidents face deportation.
