Turkmen delegation heads to Iran

According to TDH, the President of Turkmenistan ordered to send a delegation on a business trip to the city of Tehran of the Islamic Republic of Iran to hold working meetings on important areas of relations established between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The order was signed during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on January 8.

Obviously, the main issue of the bilateral discussion on January 8-9 will be the discussion of the resumption of Turkmen gas supplies to Iran.

Since January 3, Iran began receiving 4.5 million cubic meters of gas per day from Turkmenistan and transferring the same amount of its own gas to Azerbaijan under a trilateral agreement on swap supplies .

In January 2017, Turkmenistan cut off gas supplies to Iran over a dispute between Turkmengaz and the National Iranian Gas Company. In 2018, the parties filed claims against each other in International Arbitration.
