Starting from February the majority of employed residents will be obliged to transfer 15 manats (an equivalent of $4,30) to the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan on a monthly basis.
This information has been confirmed to us by some public sector organizations, in particular the Health Inspection Services of Turkmenabad and schools ?2 and ?14 in the city of Mary.
In these and many other organizations employees were urged to sign statements on their voluntary consent to transfer the aforementioned amount of money to the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan.
Previously the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan has been sponsored by such companies as Polymex, Dragon oil, Bouygues Turkmen, Petronas and some others. Some of them have already curtailed or significantly reduced their activities in projects in Turkmenistan.
The executive director of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan is Gulnabat Dovletova, a sister of the incumbent president of Turkmenistan.
We are also receiving reports that apart from the aforementioned 15 manats public sector employees might be obliged to pay monthly fees to an environmental foundation in the amount of 10 manats. However, we have failed to confirm this information and clarify further details.
