Turkmenistan and ESCAP expand cooperation

The key issues of interaction were discussed online by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and UN Deputy Secretary-General, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Armida Salsia Alisjahbana.

The parties noted the effectiveness of cooperation between Turkmenistan and ESCAP in the field of energy, transport and disaster risk reduction. The parties also discussed topical issues related to countering the pandemic. During the talks, it was noted that Turkmenistan is ready to cooperate in overcoming its economic, social and financial consequences.

Rashid Meredov said that Turkmenistan will take part at a high level in the 78th session of ESCAP, which will be held in May 2022 in Bangkok in a hybrid format. The head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry also informed that the delegation of Turkmenistan would take an active part in the work of the global forum on migration issues, which would be held from 17 to 20 May 2022 in New York.
