Turkmenistan and Iran coordinate approaches to international and regional policy

Upon completion of the one-on-one meeting between the President of Turkmenistan and the President of Iran, the members of the official delegations of the two countries joined the talks.

Addressing the Iranian colleague and the members of the IRI delegation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that today's meeting opened up a new page in the history of the Turkmen-Iranian relations and expressed belief that the results of the talks would contribute to bringing the bilateral cooperation up to the qualitatively new level.

The Turkmen leader expressed satisfaction with the coincidence of the views of Turkmenistan and Iran on the current international and regional issues. Taking the opportunity, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the Iranian side, first of all, to President Hassan Rouhani for supporting the neutral foreign policy and constructive initiatives of our country.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan respected Iran's significant role in the international and regional policy and supported its positive steps to address the important issues of our time. The both countries significantly contribute to ensuring peace and security in the region and beyond. That is vividly proved by the joint efforts taken by the countries to stabilize the situation in neighbouring Afghanistan and support the constructive negotiations to determine the international legal status of the Caspian Sea.
