Turkmenistan and Pakistan expand inter-parliamentary cooperation

Issues of developing inter-parliamentary relations were discussed during a telephone conversation by Chairman of the Upper House of the Parliament of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Speaker of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani.

During the conversation, the parties noted that Turkmenistan and Pakistan are involved in the implementation of major energy and communication projects. In this regard, the relevance of the construction of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India, as well as the laying of power lines and fiber-optic communications along the route Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan was emphasized.

At the same time, according to the parties, an important component of interstate cooperation is the exchange of experience in the field of legislation through the intensification of cooperation between the law-making bodies of the two countries. The parties spoke in favor of organizing regular meetings and consultations of parliamentarians.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani expressed confidence that inter-parliamentary cooperation would complement the multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan.
