On August 15, on the sidelines of the International Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries on Transport, a meeting was held between the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates Suheilem Al-Mazrui , the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports .
The parties discussed preparations for the visit "soon" of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the UAE and considered the possibility of opening transport and logistics routes and establishing cooperation between the port of Turkmenbashi with the ports of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as the possibility of integrating the Turkmen port into the world system of sea ports.
Meredov and Al-Mazrui also discussed investments and readiness of Turkmenistan to cooperate with leading Arab oil and gas companies.
The Turkmen side spoke about the promotion of projects in the gas chemical, financial and transport sectors with the participation of UAE investments and offered cooperation in the textile industry and the export of Turkmen goods to the markets of the UAE and Africa.
Representatives of Turkmenistan touched upon the issues of water desalination, desertification and environmental protection, and also expressed their readiness to cooperate with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
"Turkmenistan expressed its readiness to become a place for the development and testing of alternative energy technologies that can be used in the countries of Central Asia," the Foreign Ministry writes.
Recall that the UAE has invested $25 million in the construction of a hybrid solar and wind power plant and $75 million in the construction of an airport in the city of Jebel, Balkan province. Turkmenistan also offers the Abu Dhabi Development Fund to invest $175 million in the construction of a plant for the production of polyvinyl acetate in the Dashoguz velayat. It is planned to repay the loan with manufactured products.
