The issues of strengthening statistical capacity and reporting on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were discussed at a meeting of representatives of the government of Turkmenistan and the UN.
During the meeting, the parties stressed the relevance of joint work on a systematic basis, aimed at the implementation of the fundamental UN documents on the implementation of the sustainable development agenda. The parties considered the preparation of the mid-term national review of the SDGs and the second voluntary national review.
They also discussed joint activities to create a National Database on the SDGs of Turkmenistan and preparation for the population and housing census of the country in 2022. In this regard, an exchange of views took place on the assessment of the national statistical potential of the country and the possibilities for increasing it, offered by the UN.
