Turkmenistan and Turkey plan to increase mutual trade turnover by 2.5 times, increasing it to 5 billion US dollars a year. This is stated in the article of the Turkish Ambassador to Ashgabat Togan Oral, distributed in the Turkmen media on the occasion of the Day of the Turkish Republic.
“Turkey remains one of the largest trading partners of Turkmenistan. Despite the effects of the pandemic, the volume of foreign trade between Turkey and Turkmenistan in 2021 increased by 41 percent compared to the previous year and exceeded $ 2 billion. Our total trade volume in the first 8 months of 2022 reached 1 billion 330 million dollars. We are striving to reach the goal of 5 billion dollars set by our presidents as soon as possible,” the Turkish plenipotentiary says in the article.
Oral also noted that Turkish companies have implemented more than 1,000 projects worth $50 billion in Turkmenistan to date. They work in the construction sector, energy, textile industry, finance and other areas.
