On August 5, a meeting was held in Ashgabat between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vep Khadzhiev and the Ambassador of China Qian Naicheng .
According to information the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation between the two countries, the implementation of joint economic and socio-cultural projects and the preparation of mutual state, parliamentary and government visits.
Separately, Khadzhiev's statement on support for the "one China" policy is noted.
“Turkmenistan’s position remains unchanged: the Turkmen side is committed to the “one China” policy, supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of China on the basis of international law,” the message says.
The Chinese Embassy in Turkmenistan reported on the meeting in one line and noted only the assurances of the Turkmen side of support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of China.
It should be noted that Turkmenistan is not the only country whose government China asked to confirm its position on the “one China” policy. After the visit of the speaker of the US House of Representatives (lower house of Congress) Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan, Chinese diplomats held meetings in a number of countries , whose representatives declared their support for the territorial integrity of the PRC.
