Turkmenistan celebrates 31st anniversary of independence

Turkmenistan is hosting celebrations on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the country’s independence. In the early morning, a flower-laying ceremony was held at the Independence Monument of Turkmenistan. The ceremony was attended by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, leaders and representatives of the government, parliament, public organizations, political parties, elders, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Ashgabat, and foreign guests of the holiday.

Then, a military parade was held in front of the State Tribune complex in Ashgabat and a festive procession of columns of the country’s workers and students took place.

By tradition, the main holiday of the country was timed to coincide with a parade of bright architectural and construction premieres, as well as a number of important events held in the country and abroad, designed to reveal and demonstrate to the international community the historical significance of the huge changes that have taken place in the life of the state during the thirty-one years of sovereign development.

Celebrations on the occasion of the main national holiday were held in all velayat (regional) centers of Turkmenistan.
